ALAMANCE COUNTY SEPTEMBER 11 MEMORIAL CURRENTLY ON DISPLAY AT THE HAW RIVER TOWN HALL

The Alamance County September 11 Memorial is currently on display at the Town of Haw River Town Hall adjacent to the Haw River Fire Department.  The memorial will be on display in Haw River until February 1, 2017

In May 2013, Alamance County received from D. H. Griffith, Inc. a donation of a cube of steel from World Trade Center Tower 2, which was destroyed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.  After considerations, the decision was made to utilize the steel in a memorial honoring the first responders of the event: firefighters, police officers, emergency medical services personnel, and communications operators.  This will give our local community a permanent connection both to those who bravely faced the tragedies of 9/11 and to our local personnel who bravely give of themselves to their neighbors.

Casey Lewis with Beechwood Metalworks is the artist that designed the piece.  The county contracted with Beechwood Metalworks of Burlington, NC to construct the memorial.

For more information concerning the Memorial please visit World Trade Center Memorial

You are invited to come out to Town Hall at 403 East Main Street, Haw River, NC Monday thru Friday 8pm to 5pm to view the memorial.
