There will be a special called meeting on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers, Town of Haw River Municipal Building, 403 E Main Street. The Haw River Town Council will have a working meeting in preparation of the 2017/2018 Town of Haw River Budget. Interested parties are encouraged to attend.

Volunteer Firefighters Needed!

The Haw River Fire Department is actively seeking dedicated individuals that are interested in becoming volunteer firefighters.  The Fire Department serves the Town of Haw River, The Town of Green Level and a surrounding County Fire District.  Our volunteers must meet specific qualifications and pass a thorough background check prior to gaining membership.  Our members are expected to participate in rigorous training programs and attend regularly scheduled meetings and drills.  We also offer a Junior Firefighter program for young men and women, ages 14-17.

If you are interested in joining our team and becoming an asset to our community please contact the fire department for application information.

Notification of Discharge of Untreated Waste Water in Alamance County

 

Published: Monday 1:30PM

 

General Statute 143-215.lC requires that the owner or operator of any wastewater collection or Treatment works to issue a press release when an untreated wastewater discharge of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters.     ·

The Town of Haw River, NC had a discharge of untreated wastewater on the evening of October 16th to the morning of October 17, 2016 of an estimated 28,000 gallons along an outfall between Hill Street and Lang Street.  Approximately 8,000 gallons of untreated wastewater was discharged into Gold Creek in the Cape Fear River Basin.

The spill was isolated and the Town has taken steps to mitigate and clean up spill.

The North Carolina Division of Water Resources was notified of the event on October 17, 2016 and is reviewing the matter.

The Town is releasing this press release as required under state law to publish such information.

Planning & Zoning Board Membership Opportunity

The Town of Haw River has a Planning & Zoning Board made up of 8 members.  Five of the members are required to live within the town limits and three of the members are required to live in our ETJ. Service to the P&Z Board is for 3 year terms.
